Update from the Moody Family

The Moody family visited the HME garden on Saturday, August 24th in the afternoon.  The weather was perfect with blue skies and sun.  We spent a little over an hour and did a lot of weeding.  In particular we went
around some of the watermelon, squash, carrots, a few rows of corn, tomatoes, and reclaimed about a row of strawberries.  We repositioned one tomato cage.  It looks like some of the corn has broken.  Perhaps it
was caused by winds, as we lost almost 100 corn stalks in our own garden one year from wind.
The peppers looks great.  Ella picked one small carrot.
Its a beautiful garden.  It could use more weeding around the strawberries.  First year won't produce many berries but if kept weeded they will produce well next year.

We noticed a carrot peeking out of the ground, a pumpkin on it's way to being a jack-o-lantern, quite a few adorable tiny watermelon...the cucumbers, peppers and squash should be ready very soon, they just need to grow a

Update from Ms. Farwell

It's my last summer working day until the end of August, so I decided to take a stroll through the garden before I left...it's amazing to see how much everything has grown since those days of planting back in May!
Spotted a tiny watermelon starting to grow.

Many of the pepper plants have some small peppers growing on them.

Can't wait till these are ready to be picked!

Hard to see from my cell phone picture, but some neighboring chickens were nearby to keep me company.

I didn't see anything ready to be picked yet, but I'm sure very soon we will be able to harvest some veggies!

Update from the Scaccia Family

The garden is really looking good. It did require some weed eating around the fence today.
We think that the beans and peas need to be moved to the other side of the fence next year.
The vegetables on the east side of the garden don't get any sun until around noon.
Thanks again to all the families coming to weed the garden. Your support is greatly appreciated!!!

Day 1 of Nitzke family Food Forest duty.

The kids did a fantastic job planting! There seem to be a number of cucumbers sprouting and the yellow squash is doing fantastic!
There are lots of flowers where pumpkins will soon start to show.
Beans are coming in nicely.

Food Forest Update

Thank you to all the families who have been taking care of the garden so far.
The area around the strawberries, beans and peas does not have weed barrier, so the
weeds are growing like crazy.
Feel free to weed the garden when you are passing through:)

This is what I saw when I got to school this morning!!!
It was so nice to see all the green.

BEAUTIFUL!!!!!

The yellow squash is doing great!

So excited to see the carrots doing so well!!!!

Watermelons and Pumpkins

There are beans just about ready to pick.

The corn is a bit behind.
